Modern Masters Weekend June 7th – 9th

This Summer, Magic: the Gathering is going a bit retro.

The Modern Masters set for Magic: the Gathering launches this Friday. This collection of reprints from Eighth Edition through the Shards of Alara Block represent cards in the Modern Format that Wizards of the Coast wants to keep easily accessible for players. In order to get them into your hands we are running a series of events this weekend.

Booster Drafts

Booster Drafts of triple Modern Masters will be run anytime we get 8 people signed up. The entry fee is $30 a person.
Place Prize
1st – 5 packs of Modern Masters or $40 store credit
2nd – 3 packs of Modern Masters or $24 store credit
3rd – 2 packs of Modern Masters or $16 store credit
4th – 2 packs of Modern Masters or $16 store credit

Sealed Deck

On Saturday, June 8th, we are running a Sealed Deck event using 6 packs of Modern Masters, starting at 1PM. The entry fee is $60 per person. The tournament will be a 4 round, swiss-paired event, with a prize pool of 2 packs per player in the event.

Two-Headed Giant

On Sunday, June 9th, we are running a Sealed Two-Headed Giant Team event using 8 packs of Modern Masters per team, starting at 1PM. The entry fee is $40 per person, for a total of $80 per team. The tournament will be a 4 round, swiss-paired event, with a prize pool of 1 pack per player, or 2 packs per team, in the event.

The events are on a first come, first serve basis, while supplies of Modern Masters lasts. Any tournament prize of a pack of Modern Masters may instead be taken as $10 store credit.

Dragon’s Maze Prerelease Weekend, April 27th & 28th

Rounding out the Return to Ravnica block, the new upcoming Magic: the Gathering set Dragon’s Maze will be launching the first weekend in May, on Friday May 3rd. That makes the last weekend of this month, April 27th and 28th, the prerelease weekend. We are running 6 events over the course of this exciting Prerelease weekend.

Saturday has three events spaced out over the course of the whole day. Starting at noon we kick it off with a Sealed Deck event with 4 rounds of fun and a $25 entry fee. Next up on Saturday at 5PM we have a Sealed Two-Headed Giant event, with 4 swiss-paired rounds and a $25 per person entry fee. We finish up Saturday with a Sealed Deck event at 10PM, with 4 rounds swiss-paired and a $25 entry fee.

Sunday s a bit more compressed. We start again at noon with a Sealed Deck 4 round swiss-paired event with a $25 entry fee. At 5PM we run two events simultaneously, a 4 round swiss-paired Sealed Deck event with a $25 entry fee and a 4 round swiss-paired Sealed Two-Headed Giant event with a $25 per person entry fee.

Saturday Modern Constructed Events

We are now running a Modern Constructed tournament every Saturday. Each event is a regular REL tournament, with sign ups at 11AM and a kick-off time of noon. The entry fee for each event is $5 per person. The prizes are based on player participation.

Gatecrash Game Day on the 23rd & 24th

We are running two Gatecrash Game Day Standard Constructed events for the new Magic: the Gathering set, the first on Saturday February 23rd, and the second on Sunday February 24th. Each of these tournaments will have be regular REL, swiss-paired events with a $10 entry fee.

All participants receive an exclusive Zameck Guildmage (while supplies last). The Top 8 players each receive an exclusive Firemane Avenger full-art promo card. The cards are awarded to the Top 8 players even if the tournament cuts only to the Top 4. In addition, the first place winner of GatecrashGame Day will receive an exclusive Playmat. The prize payout will be based upon player participation.
